Transistors you say?
Okay, Let's talk some more about IT:
Thanks to the new Intel 22-nanometer manufacturing process, the top Xeon E7 v2 processor line has a mind-blowing 4.3 billion transistors. That's right: 4.3 billion.
1947 - 2014.
Power consumption has becoming an increasing concern for IT. Most organizations are striving for greener IT operations. The 3.4GHz Xeon E7-8893 v2 has a maximum thermal design power (TDP) of 155 watts, more economical 2.3GHz Xeon E7-2870 v2 uses a more modest 105 watts.
One of the most significant changes in these new processors is a huge increase in addressable memory. Servers with Xeon E7 v2 processors can address as much as 4TB of RAM—twice the amount supported by the previous generation. The new processors support 64GB DIMMs, with 24 DIMMs per socket. The Xeon E7 v1 used 32GB DIMMs and had a maximum of 16 DIMMs per sock
The 20 versions of the Intel Xeon E7 v2 processor provide numerous cores; choose from 6, 8, 10, 12, or 15. All the Xeon E7 v2 processors support Hyper-Threading with two threads per core. The cores are arranged on the chip in three columns of five cores each.
Xeon E7 v2 processors support all the advanced features that you have come to expect from Intel: Turbo Boost Technology, Hyper-Threading, Virtualization Technology, Extended Page Tables, Enhanced SpeedStep, and Thermal Monitoring.

Trivia #14
1. For such a data-centric conglomerate to get ever more dominant seems against the flow of history and intuitively unlikely.
But intuitive views of the direction of internet competition have been wrong before, as the existence of giants like Google, Amazon and Facebook bears witness.
And should it show signs of coming to pass, the current antitrust skirmishes will give way to an epic battle on the scale of the one against Standard Oil.
“If we will not endure a king as a political power,” said John Sherman, the senator who gave his name to America’s original antitrust law, “we should not endure a king over the production, transportation and sale of any of the necessaries of life.” Even one that makes things very, very easy.
2. Chris Rock Rocks!
3. Deaths in uSA from friendly firearms.

1. Gangs! Make prisons less crowded and dangerous, and inmates would require less group protection. Gangs are a logical response to prison conditions. The same goes for the outside.
2. Happy Birthday Eugene!
Remembering 1960: "A possible explanation of the physicist's use of mathematics to formulate his laws of nature is that he is a somewhat irresponsible person. As a result, when he finds a connection between two quantities which resembles a connection well-known from mathematics, he will jump at the conclusion that the connection is that discussed in mathematics simply because he does not know of any other similar connection."
3. Happy birthday Patrick! He wrote: “May every young scientist remember -- and not fail to keep his eyes open for the possibility that an irritating failure of his apparatus to give consistent results may once or twice in a lifetime conceal an important discovery.”

Happy Birthday Marie!
07.11.2014 - Shame on "Physics Today" not to mentioned Marie Curie Skłodowska, anyway, happy Birthday to Marie and Lise! This is the most significant history day for Polish Science.
Marie Skłodowska-Curie (7 November 1867 – 4 July 1934) was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person (and only woman) to win twice, the only person to win twice in multiple sciences, and was part of the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes. She was also the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris, and in 1995 became the first woman to be entombed on her own merits in the Panthéon in Paris.
She was born Maria Salomea Skłodowska in Warsaw, in what was then the Kingdom of Poland, part of the Russian Empire. She studied at Warsaw's clandestine Floating University and began her practical scientific training in Warsaw. In 1891, aged 24, she followed her older sister Bronisława to study in Paris, where she earned her higher degrees and conducted her subsequent scientific work. She shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with her husband Pierre Curie and with physicist Henri Becquerel. She won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Her achievements included a theory of radioactivity (a term that she coined), techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes, and the discovery of two elements, polonium and radium. Under her direction, the world's first studies were conducted into the treatment of neoplasms, using radioactive isotopes. She founded the Curie Institutes in Paris and in Warsaw, which remain major centres of medical research today. During World War I, she established the first military field radiological centres.
While a French citizen, Marie Skłodowska Curie (she used both surnames) never lost her sense of Polish identity. She taught her daughters the Polish language and took them on visits to Poland. She named the first chemical element that she discovered – polonium, which she first isolated in 1898 – after her native country.
Curie died in 1934 at the sanatorium of Sancellemoz (Haute-Savoie), France, due to aplastic anemia brought on by exposure to radiation – including carrying test tubes of radium in her pockets during research and her World War I service in mobile X-ray units created by her.

2. Happy Birthday Galileo from Livorno, Italy. Whether Galileo Ferraris, not Nikola Tesla, should be credited with first inventing the polyphase electric motor was the subject of three lawsuits in 1901-05 and remains controversial today.
3. ADHD bullshit! From the standpoint of teachers, parents and the world at large, the problem with people with A.D.H.D. looks like a lack of focus and attention and impulsive behavior. But if you have the “illness,” the real problem is that, to your brain, the world that you live in essentially feels not very interesting.

Please Mr. Cook
Sell/Buy: Mr. Tim Cook, I have the advise for you, Focus on selling software only and abandon long term hardware. Your company Apple, would have a potential to dominate Asian market, World market, cause' your software is the GOLD, not your hardware. SteveJobs paradox, it is, to be proud of making commodity which is Hardware. Mr. Cook, Focus on your core competency, Software.
Now, I see all over the World, all kinds of beautiful devices made, more so that what Apple produces, despite, Apple does Not produces them, Chinese factories do, well sort off, and because they do its a loosing proposition long term anyway. Even what's inside every Apple device comes from the map starting at Shirakawa, Prefektura Fukushima, Japan, and Tokyo factories, down to South Korean's Suwon City, further down to Taiwan's Hsinchu City, and finally Chinese mainland ... West of Hong Kong vicinity.
Mr. Tim Cook, license your software everywhere possible, the market paradise did shift, adopt. Still, Googles "Android" is a wishful thinking, there is still time to act.
You can triple the value of Apple stock in the next 5 years if you act.
NOW: I am looking for a large phone, but not a tablet, that has screen size close to 6.5 inch, but not less, and no more, but here is the catch, that includes IOS 8.08. I am willing to pay handsomely. Please respond instantly at "Death to Apple Hardware.com" for immediate purchasing accommodations.
Again, Mr.Cook, I am positive that cause' your stubbornness I foresee the value of Apple stock plunging further down the spiral of negativity.
I beg you, ACT NOW.

Apple iPhone release
As per attached pics Vendors near Apple store in IFC Shopping Center in Hong Kong are selling the 128-gigabyte iPhone 6 Plus for HK$14,000 (Hong Kong dollars) compared with HK$ 8,088 IT cost in the Apple Store that you cannot buy and is not available even for an on-line order. Outside the store people frantically exchange cash for all sorts versions of iPhone6 and 6plus, IT seems imposible target to catch. Interestingly enough, i found few english speaking enthusiasts who border plains from way down South full of cash especially to capture whatever deals possible in a Starbucks Coffee Shop on the 2nd floor. While all this is happening there are 15 new iPhone copy cats entering the Chinese market before iPhone release. To mention all: Xiaomi, Coolpad, Oppo, OnePlus, Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, QMobile, Smartfren, HiMax, Mito, Ninetology, I-Mobile, CherryMobile, Starmobile. IS this something or What? In few years time only few will survive.

Mystery Academy
